Amman, May 27 (Petra)-- Jordanians across the Kingdom performed Eid Al-Adha prayer on Wednesday in mosques and prayer grounds nationwide, in an atmosphere marked by faith, joy, solidarity, and compassion.

Grand Mufti, Ahmad Al-Hasanat, delivered the Eid sermon at the main prayer ground in Al Hussein Youth City in Amman, highlighting the virtues and noble meanings of Eid Al-Adha and the values of sacrifice, obedience, family ties, and social solidarity it represents.

Al-Hasanat called for promoting tolerance, and compassion among people, while emphasizing the importance of preserving national unity. He noted that the blessed occasion embodies the values of giving and sincerity.

He also stressed the significance of the sacrificial offering (Udhiya) as a great Islamic ritual symbolizing devotion and closeness to God, explaining its spiritual rewards and its reflection of obedience to divine commands.

The Grand Mufti said Eid rituals reinforce the values of generosity, charity, and solidarity among Muslims, urging people to maintain family ties, reject disputes and animosity, and embrace peace and forgiveness to strengthen social cohesion and brotherhood.
He further underscored the importance of supporting poor and needy families during the Eid holiday.

Al-Hasanat added that the blessed days of Eid are an opportunity to increase prayers, praises, and remembrance of God, encouraging Muslims to make the most of the occasion through worship and good deeds.

He also extended Eid greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and the Arab and Islamic nations, praying that the occasion returns with goodness, prosperity, and blessings for all.
