3/ Ajloun’s Al-Iman Hospital Expands Specialized Healthcare Services

Ajloun, May 28 (Petra)-- Ali Freihat - Ajloun’s Al-Iman Government Hospital is witnessing significant progress in the quality of healthcare and medical services provided to citizens through development projects, expanded treatment and specialized services, and the launch of humanitarian initiatives aimed at improving healthcare standards.

Hospital Director Abdulkhaleq Anab told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the hospital relocated to a new building with a capacity of 250 beds, contributing to an improved treatment environment and increased capacity to serve patients from across the governorate.

He added that the hospital obtained accreditation from the Health Care Accreditation Council in 2024 and ranked second among government and university hospitals in the Integrity Award for three consecutive years, reflecting advancements in performance and healthcare services.

Anab said the hospital has continued its digital transformation by activating electronic documentation through the "Hakeem" system, in addition to expanding newly introduced medical services, including MRI, mammography, echocardiography, upper and lower endoscopy, and specialized clinics in cardiology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, and rheumatology.

He noted the expansion of ophthalmology and dental health services, as well as linking the hospital to remote healthcare services through the virtual hospital system in intensive care, radiology, and nephrology departments. The hospital has also been electronically connected with the King Hussein Cancer Center for early tumor detection and diagnosis.

Anab added that the mammography unit received accreditation from the Health Council with a score of 94.5 percent, enhancing early breast cancer screening services in line with approved health standards.

The hospital recorded more than 31,000 admissions over recent years, while admissions during 2025 reached approximately 8,860 cases, in addition to thousands of outpatient visits and surgical procedures, reflecting the scale of healthcare services provided to residents of the governorate.

He stressed that the hospital has focused on improving the efficiency of healthcare staff through specialized training programs and courses, particularly in newly introduced services such as echocardiography, ophthalmic surgeries, and radiology. The hospital also strengthened community engagement through health and environmental activities, awareness campaigns, and educational workshops.

Anab said 66 educational courses were organized in cooperation with the local community, highlighting the hospital’s active social role. In addition, 45 online lectures were delivered to broaden access to available expertise, while the accreditation of 165 Continuous Professional Development (CPP) programs underscored the quality of training content.

He explained that several improvement projects have been implemented, including reducing waiting times, activating a WhatsApp-based medication inquiry service, establishing a pharmaceutical and nutritional education clinic, participating in the Ministry of Health’s virtual hospital initiative, improving electronic medical documentation, and coordinating with the Ministry’s Family Health Unit. The hospital also receives patients transferred from other hospitals based on available capabilities. Results from "mystery shopper" evaluations rose to 94 percent, positively impacting service quality.

Anab noted that the hospital launched the "Salamtak" initiative to serve the elderly, people with disabilities, and children. The initiative also includes a sign language interpreter and a multilingual translation team to assist patients and visitors of different nationalities, facilitating access to healthcare services.

He affirmed the hospital’s commitment to high academic and professional standards, including the use of a maternity emergency triage system and participation in the Distinguished Government Hospital Award, noting that bed occupancy rates currently stand at 35 percent.
